The distinct taste of Malvani dishes is what has transformed it into one of the most popular local dishes in Mumbai. Also popular as Mumbrella, the dishes of this region from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh are cooked using local ingredients. Most popular vegetables are the one seen in the 'Roti Vada' which forms an integral part of almost every dish of this region. The vegetarian dishes are 'Kamal', 'Sandesh' and 'Bhel Puri'. While rice is used in abundance, the other main source of calories is the dry fruits like almonds, cashew nuts and mangoes.

"Malvani ka tilak" or "Mango tilak" is a favorite appetizer of those people belonging to the younger generation of Mumbai. This is a spicy and mildly spicy vegetable dish prepared with mangoes and red chili. The main ingredient, red chili, is dried like the dried chillies, whereas the green leafy ones are not used. Spicy Tandoori Masala is another favorite with vegetarians. It is made using a mix of red chili, cumin and masala. These vegetarian galvanic dishes are very popular throughout the city.

"Kisli Saindhav" or "fish curry" is a popular dish of Andhra Pradesh. The origin of these dishes is probably traced back to the time when Portuguese traders brought to these regions spices like ginger, fish and shrimp, which later became the staple diet of these people. The seafood too was a welcome discovery for them, and so was the regional dish "Paniyaram". The name literally means "little fish curry" in Telugu, and hence these dishes were named accordingly.

"Chana Dalav" or "erala methi" is another delicacy of the malvani cuisines. The ingredients used in this dish are black gram (or gram flour), red chili, coriander, cumin, mustard seeds and almonds. This dish is a must try for those people who love seafood and all its different types! "alorei Sattva" or "chalav" is yet another local delicacy from the goa district. It is made of chick peas, coconut milk and fried onions.

To enjoy the taste of malvani, one can visit the famous "Shodh Sagar" or the "Green City of Goa". This is a picturesque town located at the southern tip of the state of Maharashtra. The most popular attractions here are the old forts and palaces, as well as beautiful beaches. The capital city of Goa, also known as the city of churches, has numerous churches worth a visit. The best time to visit this delightful state is from October to March. During this season, the state undergoes an immense climate, known as the "Gulabi Season".

Goa on the other hand experiences a milder climate during the months of April to May. This is one of the prime tourist destinations in the country, which not only provide tourists with a wonderful opportunity to eat seafood dishes, but also educate them about the flavors and spices of the state's delicacies. "Chana Dalai Masala" and "Sindhudurg cuisine" are two popular delicacies from this state that can be sampled while in Mumbai. The Goanese influence on the seafood dishes makes the Goa a hot destination for seafood lovers from across the world too.

The famous town of Bhubeneshwar in Maharashtra, is a hub of tourism and is the second largest town of Orrissa State after Mumbai. The beautiful lakes and lovely green hills and green meadows offer the perfect setting for Bhubeneshwar, where the famous fish-fishing festivals are celebrated. The city also witnesses one of the biggest events of the year, the "Bhubeneshwar Mahaslam" or the famous warm Indian summer. The festival of colors, which takes place at the end of August or early September, is another spectacular festival celebrated in Bhubeneshwar. The colorful garlands and handicrafts, along with the "Ranjeeti Kaju" or the 'Flower Festival' adds to the beauty of this colorful event.

With its beautiful beaches, picturesque forts and a rich tradition of cuisines, the state of Maharasthan is a paradise for those who love savory and spicy cuisines.
