In this article, we will discuss the new applications of bitumen from Faraz petroleum products
The color of this material is black to dark brown.
It is viscose or non-crystalline and dissolves in organic solutions such as toluene and carbon disulfide.
Components of bitumen 60/70 contain 80% carbon, 15% hydrogen as well as other residues such as oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen and different metals.
Pitch has different applications. If you are with us by the end, we will provide you with information about the new applications of pitch.
Application of Tar

In the present era, tar has different applications as follows:
Sealing, adhesion and protective coatings.
Other new applications of tar include agriculture, construction, industries, road construction and etc.
Road Construction

Research shows more than 80% of bitumen VG30 is used for road construction, pavings and maintenance of them around the world.
People also use the remaining 20% for other purposes such as insulation, sealing, casing pipe and etc.
If you want to get familiar with the new use of pitch in the road construction, you can get information on how to build the road.
People consider new ways of road construction to make elastic layers.
These layers must distribute the tensile and compressive stresses of the road to all over the its surface so that it doesn’t deform.
Layers must be durable against air. Pitch increases stamina.
It connects all the particles and fills all the holes too.
Another new application of tar is its sealing that prevents water from penetrating road path and damage to the natural base.
Asphalt

Asphalt production processes are as follows:
1. People mix different aggregates with tar. ( of course they must measure the tar before doing so and then heat it.
2. They also transfer the mixture and use special machinery to pull it on the road surface as asphalt.
Humans produce asphalt in a variety of forms, so it has different types that we mention below

 Dense Graded Asphalt or Asphalt Concrete

It has a dense mixture of fine and coarse aggregates, mineral fillers and tar. People must carefully prepare and control it.
 Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA)

The base of this asphalt is sand and pitch. This material has a high viscosity and 30% of it is made of rock.
It is rounded because of the impact on the surface too.
 Stone Mastic Asphalt

These materials have a mixture of large rocks with mastic asphalt to provide high resistance to deformation on the road surface.
 Open Graded Asphalt

People know it as porous asphalt and drainage asphalt.
This material is a combination of graded aggregates to create an open tissue so that the asphalt layer can create drainage water.
 Tack Coat

This material is a layer of emulsion tar that connects a layer of road to the bottom of it.
 The Use of Bitumen as Spray Foam Insulation

People use tar in new uses such as restoration of old roads, waterproof, maintenance as well as spray foam insulation.
They can also cut this insulation such an emulsion or call it penetration grade tar.
Fog type insulator is also a pitch emulsion. Humans use it as repair, maintenance, sealing as well as filling of old pitch.
 Bituminous Slurry Surfacing

People use tar slurry to maintain surfaces – that have a mixture of fine aggregates , fillers and bitumen emulsion.
The price of this material is relatively low, but it is done at high speed.
 Use of Tar to Rebuild Roads

We can recycle the roads by pitch. The material has low demand and is also profitable for materials and energy.
 Application of tar in industrial applications

People use less than 20 % of tar for industrial applications, so many engineers & manufacturers have relied on tar as an economic adhesive and protector.
Use new cases of pitch include waterproof insulation and using of tar roof sheets across the flat roof.
Pitch roofing is like strips that people initially impregnate it with tar and then cover both sides with heavy duty asphalt and mineral grains.
People also use tar for other new uses such as underfloor heating tiles to prevent water leak damage.
Other items that have industrial grade pitch include use of tar to improve the performance of felt and paper as insulator, paper packs, printing ink, floor covers, sound insulation felts – which are hidden in car bodies.
Electrical insulation compound and battery boxes of some household & industrial cleaning have industrial grade tar too.
The other new roles of emulsion bitumen in pavement of roads and airports are as follows:

Surface coating, penetration macadam, cold mixing machine, seamless with suspended mixture, surface plates, reinforcement plates, in-situ soil consolidation, dust laying, oil mulch ( stabilization of sands, protection of landing & installations, construction site mulching, agricultural mulches, artificial rain making, mulch railroad ties, insolation mulch.
Humans also use pitch to protect the external and internal surfaces of concrete sewer pipes and polymer-modified moisture insulation.
