No doubt, the world is taking good advantage of the sun’s energy in the form of solar panels. Solar panels benefit us in many ways, and on installation, we can also get the federal solar tax credit. It has many unique benefits like it provides heat, electricity, etc. But like every other thing, it also has some drawbacks. Given below are some cons of solar panels.

Cost

The first drawback of solar panels is, they are highly expensive. It will cost you a lot, from purchasing solar panels to installing and wiring.

Intermittent Energy Source

Solar panels are considered as an intermittent source of energy. Like, the sun does not shine at night, so, it won’t generate power at night. Cloudy and rainy weather has also affected solar panels. Sometimes the sun’s intensity varies on location as well.

Solar Panel Require Space

Solar panels need a lot of space to be installed. If the installation is for the home, then the roof is a great idea. But it will create some issues if the installation is on a large scale. Solar panels have a low power density. A solar panel produces less energy as compared to fossil fuels. It simply means the solar panel needs more space to produce the same amount of energy as fossil fuels.

You Can’t Take Solar With You

Let’s imagine you installed a solar panel on your home. Now you need to shift or change the location. It would be even more expensive to move the solar panels. You need professionals for installing and removing solar panels, which is costly.

Pollution

Solar panels are less pollutant as compared to other energies. But it does create pollution. Installation and transportation of solar panels produce emission of greenhouse gases. Also, there are some toxic and harmful materials used in the manufacturing of solar panels. As a result, they can affect the environment.
